Guiomar Bravo is the owner of a bar, situated in a remote place, where she works and lives by herself. Bino Mota, former navy officer and usual customer, is interested in marrying Guiomar Bravo, and thus becoming the owner of the bar. Nevertheless, none of his courting attempts find a positive response from her. Sick of being ‘stranded’, Bino conjures up a plan that, according to him, will have an immediate effect in gaining her hearth: to stage a robbery!
An unemployed former soldier – Edmund Travers – accepts to play the ‘thief’, in exchange of a certain payment. And for the stage director and dramaturge of this operation, he gives himself the role of the ‘hero’, by showing up in the ‘scene of the crime’, saving Guiomar and conquering her heart. The operation has the objective of tricking Guiomar into mistaking illusion for reality. She won’t be the only victim: on stage and out of it, life and theatre are often mistaken for one another.

Press highlight

‘The voices of the three singers are powerful, showing a very interesting chromatic effect. Mário Spencer presents us with a balanced performance of what was expected of his character.’
Ana Cristina Oliveira, Jornal do Algarve, 30/04/09
